Grow, Harvest, & Feast

yearlong series
2024-25
Yonkers Public Library

At the Yonkers Public Library, I developed Grow, Harvest, & Feast, a year-long series celebrating Yonkers diversity through food, recipes, oral history, and community gardening including:

  • a seed library and hydroponic garden sponsored by ConEdison,

  • a collectible binder holding monthly updates like planting calendars, recipes, and local interviews,

  • an interactive food memory station to add recipes, pictures and stories to the library’s digital archives,

  • planting workshops,

  • restaurant tastings,

  • and family crafts and art projects.

The program was launched with a Black History Month celebration on February 17, 2024, including a cooking demo, a tour of local cuisine from Black and Afro-Caribbean chefs, planting and crafting stations, and an interactive dance workshop with James Norton from Youth Theatre Interactions.
